Soccer

Last week we signed up K. for AYSO soccer. She is beyond excited. Games do not begin until September, but she doesn't understand that. She wanted to go play immediately after signing up.

Yesterday we spent a long time in Dick's Sporting Goods store picking up all of her "gear" with our good friends Kris and Carrie. (We went to Nashville for the weekend to visit them.) I think we bought every pink item they had with the matching soccer hair accessories.

Here's a picture of what she picked out. Sorry about the clarity. I took the picture with my phone.

Princesses...Fairies...

Don't you just love birthday parties for little girls? We went to one a couple of weekends ago and loved watching all of the little princesses dance around in their costumes, including K., who wore her Tinkerbell costume. Her number 5 birthday party (as she calls her fifth birthday party) will now have a Tinkerbell theme (I'm sure it will change 100 times between now and December). We didn't have our camera at the party, but Mimi was able to capture a few of K. after the party. Yes, she did wear the costume all day.

Fancy K.

K.'s favorite book is "Fancy Nancy." She loves to be fancy. She gets excited each time we are getting dressed and says, "Momma, do you want to be fancy today and wear lots of jewels?" (Jewels = bracelets and rings.) We often laugh that she will be an actress when she is older, but last night she informed me that she loved "fashion." Where does a 4-year-old learn such things? (That's rhetorical, we know it could only come from TV, which we do limit.)

We were watching the Disney channel (by the way, when did they start running commercials during movies?) and a commercial for those awful Bratz dolls came on. Of course, K. began begging for one. (I've put my foot down - I will not buy those dolls.) I asked her, "Why? Tell me what you like about those dolls." (I'm often curious about what is so appealing to her. Their trashy clothes? Their overly made up faces? The fact that the girls playing with them have sparkly hair, etc.?) That's when she said, "I want one because I love fashion. I just want to be smart and cute." Good thing she threw in smart. I didn't have a response. All I could do was laugh. I have no idea where she gets her love of clothes...

Progress in the pool

As mentioned several times before, K. has said this is the summer of "no floaties." She proved herself this weekend and is swimming like a fish - without floaties, of course. She has handed down her floaties to little brother, who has made some progress himself - no more screaming upon entering the pool, instead he is jumping off the diving board (he counts, it's too cute, "two, two, go!") and swimming around with his hand-me-down floaties. Here's pictures to prove it (you knew I couldn't resist, right?).

Kickin' It Country

K.'s first ballet/tap/jazz recital was Saturday at TWC (she's told everyone that she danced at Mommy's work). The title of the recital was Kickin' It Country. She was absolutely adorable and did such a great job. We're so very proud of her, including P. Before he fell asleep he was clapping and yelling, "sissy!" Thank you Cousin L., Grandmother, Mimi, Papaw, Mamaw, Auntie Robin and Uncle Austie for coming to watch our little princess! For those of you who weren't there, I'll try not to make you watch the DVD too many times. Also, I have more pictures to post, but blogger is having a few issues uploading tonight. I'll try again tomorrow.

Doughnuts with Daddy

This morning K.'s preschool hosted "Doughnuts with Daddy." R. took the day off from work to attend school with K. and run some errands. While at school with K., R. was presented with a few items that K. made for him. The first was a canvas tool belt and the second was a list of items about R. They are hilarious. I've listed them below.

  • My Daddy's name is: R.

  • His hair is: brown.

  • His favorite food is: casserole.

  • My daddy works: in Tennessee.

  • He likes to: do some work on the 'puter.

  • I love my daddy because: I gave him a big hug.

The funniest part was that she also drew a picture of the two of them where R. is bald and frowning. She said he was angry. I've laughed all afternoon.
