Our Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

We've been planning for more than a week to make a trip to the pumpkin patch today. It was the only day we didn't have to be at a lesson, practice, work functions or church. And it hasn't rained for months, but today, TODAY of all days, the sky broke loose and it poured. And with a never-forgetful four year old, it was impossible to explain that the trip would have to be delayed. She would not take "No" for an answer. So we loaded up in the car, after getting drenched (the sitter had parked in front of my garage spot) running to the car, and drove up the road to a local Baptist church that raises money for missions through its sale of pumpkins. This is what we saw.

There was no convincing K. that there was no one there to sell us pumpkins. She wanted to get out. Luckily, the doors were locked and she couldn't get out. :-) But as soon as it was 6 p.m., closing time for the pumpkin patch, the rain stopped, the sky cleared and the sun made an appearance - just our luck. We're going to try again tomorrow after preschool pick-up. Wish us luck.

By the way, this will be our second set of pumpkins. We had two earlier in the month and K. insisted we carve them right away. We did, and one week later they were mush. K. was nearly in tears as she thought someone had vandalized her pumpkin. It was only when she saw the "juice" leaking from it did she understand that it was rotten. Nice.

Mimi

I snapped this great picture of P. and his Mimi this weekend. It is so sweet that I had to share. He's crazy about all of his grandparents, but last night P. informed me that he was "Mimi's boy." I won't believe it...he's a mama's boy for sure and I hope that never changes.

Goal!

Today K. scored her first goal, well, her first "legit" goal. Last week she scored after the soccer ball rolled out of bounds. But today, it was a "for real" goal! We're so proud and she's so proud of herself. I believe she was a little shocked afterwards and didn't really know what to think. We were all on the sidelines yelling for her, including P, and so lost in the moment that we didn't get a picture. Oh well, I don't think any of us will forget. We were able to get a few other photos. Here they are.

Early Birthday Surprise

Next weekend I celebrate birthday #29, but my husband and in-laws surprised me with my gift a little early...a Canon Digital Rebel XTi. I'm so excited. No more calling Mimi to remind her to bring the camera to every event my children participate in because I've forgotten to buy film. I can't wait for tomorrow's soccer game!

The Important things in Soccer

1. Make sure your hair always looks good.

2. Always get a "high-five" from the coach.

3. Run as fast as you can with your arms straight out to block out the opponents.

4. Make sure your brother behaves himself.

5. Close the game with "Go Butterflies!"

6. One word: snacks!
